i40

New Hyundai i40

The i40 is the largest of the standard cars that is on offer from Hyundai, and comes in the traditional saloon and in the estate body shape, with a range of engines and trim levels on offer.  Hyundai are probably best known for making quality cars that are affordable to the mass market, and when compared with rivals such as the Honda Accord or the Ford Mondeo the i40 is particularly well priced.  There are a range of engines and trim levels available, and the overall package that is on offer from Hyundai is one that makes the i40 an attractive prospect.

The i40 is available with a 1.6 litre petrol engine and two 1.7 litre diesel engines, and especially in the diesel models the power and the eagerness to answer the accelerator at higher revs make it a good performer.  One of the features that Hyundai are including into the i40 is the Blue Drive option which builds in the stop/start engine technology that help to make the engines very efficient.  The entry level of trim is reasonable enough and offers alloy wheels and air conditioning, while the ‘Style’ level of trim includes parking sensors and a camera, along with satellite navigation.

An attractive feature that may attract buyers to the i40 is that the space available in the car is very good, and four adults can be easily accommodated into the spacious cabin, with plenty of space for luggage.  The estate version, known as the ‘Tourer’ is a little bit more expensive than the saloon, but the extra load space at the back of the car does help to make it a practical option.  For those who are looking for space and practicality in a package that is also efficient and has reasonable running costs, the i40 does match up very well against the rivals.

The entry level model for the i40 saloon is available for under £18,000, and there are a number of other models in both body shapes that are available for well under £20,000.  Another attractive feature of the i40 is that it comes with an excellent package including a five year warranty, five years’ roadside breakdown assistance and annual vehicle health checks for five years.  This is a superb package that is on offer from Hyundai, and even brands that are significantly larger and more established can’t match this offer from the Korean manufacturer.
